Sedation & Patient Comfort

Our office is committed to providing patients with a relaxed and comfortable experience. For this reason Forsyth Periodontal Associates offers several levels of sedation for all surgical and non-surgical procedures. These can all be discussed with you at your first visit.

Intravenous Sedation

Intravenous Sedation (sometimes called Twilight Anesthesia) is performed when medication is given through an IV. It will enable you to tolerate as well as not remember those procedures that may otherwise make you uncomfortable, and will essentially help alleviate the anxiety associated with your treatment. The benefit of Intravenous Sedation is that the dosage can instantly be adjusted to reach the desired level of sedation.

Oral Sedation

With oral sedation you are prescribed pills that are taken an hour before your appointment. This form of sedation is safe and inexpensive. You will be relaxed and comfortable throughout the procedure.

Both Dr. Suttle and Dr. Pierce received extensive training in sedation and are licensed by the State of North Carolina to administer sedation in our office. They also both undergo extensive continuing education hours each year pertaining to sedation. If you desire sedation for your treatment, we will discuss all of the sedation options with you at your first visit.
